Valario Davis is a photographer stationed in Memphis, Tennessee. Broadly speaking his work includes portrait photography with the intent of honoring the human experience and more specifically his work is meant to engage with, challenge, and illustrate the conflicts facing black women in America. Davis is influenced by photographers such as Carrie Mae Weems and Todd Hido due to their visual impact and unique messages. He is also empowered by many black historical figures that focused on the liberation and salvation of the black body. Davis hopes to engage his audience in thoughtful discussions on human interconnectivity and the plight of the black woman now and throughout history.
